| FL-9 Locomotives |
Due to a variety of factors, the Penn Central was doomed to failure, and the railroad along with it's stewardship of the FL-9 locomotives was short lived. However, many roads leading in and out of New York City would provide new homes for the unique locomotives. Metro North which had already partnered with Penn Central continued to operate blue & yellow units along with Conrail. Eventually the blue & yellow yielded to Metro North's silver and blue, then silver blue and red. As locomotives were rebuilt, they received a variety of new details and liveries. Some locomotives wore Amtrak bands; others reverted to the original McGinnis black-red-white, operating under the Connecticut Department of Transportation banner. On some locomotives, the Hancock air whistles yielded to new 5-chime air horns. Though not all of the variations can be accurately replicated, our models are finished in authentic colors and are fully assembled and ready to operate. |
